PDO Threads – An Alternative to Surgical Facelift

The PDO Thread Lift is an alternative to “going under the knife” for a surgical face lift. As we age, facial tissue falls forward and downward. When properly placed, PDO threads reposition facial tissue by lifting it up and backwards.
This results in a more youthful appearance without looking “too done.”

What are PDO Threads?

PDO – Polydioxanone have been used as suture material in plastic surgery, open-heart surgery, trauma surgery, and gynecological surgery for over 30 years. Polydioxanone material meets all the requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for surgical stitching and are FDA approved suture material for tissue approximation (bringing tissues closer together) for the entire body.

Areas of Signature Treatments

The PDO Thread Lift is used to improve the appearance of sagging skin of the face, neck, and décolleté, can be used to adjust the contour of the face, to improve skin texture and reduce pores, and to improve the appearance of wrinkles. The PDO Thread Lift can also be used on the body such as the arms, buttocks, abdomen, and thighs to create lift, tightening, and the improvement of cellulite.

How Long Does It Take?

Approximately 15 to 30 minutes per signature treatment.

Are PDO Threads Safe?

The threads are placed in the subcutaneous plane to avoid injury to major blood vessels or nerves. PDO Threads do not have antigenic (do not stimulate an immune response) or pyrogenic reactions (cause fever). There is no risk of scarring or severe bleeding. Rarely irritation/infection/sutures may be visible underneath the skin.

Is the PDO Thread Lift procedure Painful?

Dr. Dyson’s patients are kept very comfortable during the procedure with the use of the PRO-NOX™ Nitrous Oxide System (laughing gas) and/or a mild sedative.

How long do PDO Threads Last?

The biodegradable sutures will break down over a period of 4 to 6 months. Thread lifting provides immediate results typically lasting from 12 to 18 months.

How do I prepare for the PDO Thread Lift Procedure?

Patients on blood thinner medication or medicine that prevents blood clotting are not candidates for the PDO Thread Lift Procedure. Aspirin, Vitamin E, and NSAIDS should be held 7 days and alcohol should be held 3 days before the procedure. Avoid Ginkgo, omega fish oils, Chinese medicine, high intensity workouts, steam rooms and saunas one to two days before treatment.
