History of HCG

The HCG diet is a weight loss protocol developed in the late 1950’s by Dr. A.T.W. Simeon. It is a way to quickly lose a lot of weight. Dr. Simeon established a clinic in Italy where he treated tens of thousands of patients with a success rate of about 97%. Dr. Simeon noticed that body fat was reduced while treating so-called “fat boys” for underdeveloped genitals. He used HCG as part of the treatment. Based on this observation, he developed the HCG protocol to treat adults with How does HCG work?

HCG is short for Human Chronic Gonadotropin- a hormone produced by women during pregnancy. HCG enables the release of fat while sparing muscle.

How is HCG administered?

A recent study by a leading New York/New Jersey weight loss specialist concluded that sublingual HCG drops available over the internet, local vitamin and health food stores, and some health practioner’s offices cannot be absorbed by the body. Patients using HCG injections achieved therapeutic levels of HCG in the blood. At our center, we use HCG injections. HCG is injected in very minute quantities compared to the amount produced during pregnancy.

How much weight will I lose?

The average patient loses ½ pound to 1 pound per day on the HCG diet protocol. Men generally lose more than women. On average, a male will lose a pound or more a day. On average, a female will lose half of a pound to a pound a day. The fat deposits on stubborn areas such as the waist, thighs, and buttocks melt away on the HCG diet. On average, individuals lose 15 to 20 pounds or more in three weeks on the HCG program. In some instances, the change in body composition is not reflected in a great loss of pounds. Some individuals increase muscle and total body water while losing many pounds of fat. These changes result in a loss of inches and a more healthy body composition.

How long is the HCG treatment?

One cycle of HCG will last 23-40 days. If the patient stops losing weight at 23 days, the cycle stops after 23 days. Some individuals continue to lose weight beyond 23 days. In that case, a cycle of HCG would continue for 40 days if desired.

Is HCG FDA approved?

HCG is FDA approved for use in treating infertility. HCG is not approved by the FDA for weight loss. HCG is used in very minute quantities for the purpose of weight loss. The use of HCG for weight loss is considered off label.

HCG Success

The HCG protocol is very specific and you cannot fudge on the diet. Success depends on adherence to the program. The HCG diet alone will not work. It must be done along with the daily HCG injections. The protocol offered at our center may include B-vitamin injections as well as lipotropic injections to facilitate fat loss. In addition, we offer a complete nutritional analysis of an individual’s specific vitamin, mineral, and amino acid needs.
